I woo You is a free to play online social dating game on facebook, and in the sweet music world, the players ask and answer questions, and rate answers about dating with characters in the game, and with friends online. MTV Cast members are in the game as characters see who you are a date match with.

The game, created by Stone Creek Entertainment and MTV, starts by asking you to craft an avatar for yourself. Which is great … as long as you don’t expect your avatar to look anything like you. Unless you happen to be a super model.

That is, you can be a tall, skinny brunette skank with short hair. You can be a tall skinny blond skank with long hair. You can be a tall, skinny red-headed skank with a bob cut. Want your avatar’s lips to be anything but plump and pouty? Want your nose to be something besides button-sized and adorable? You’re barking up the wrong game, my friend.

After you’ve crafted your avatar, you can select a virtual person to go on a “date” with. Will it be Alex the aspiring comedian whose hobbies are playing video games and going to comedy shows? Perhaps you want to date Zach, the photographer whose likes are hiking, skiing and traveling? Or how about Christine, the yoga instructor who enjoys meditation and palm reading?

Then the I WOO YOU METER lets the players know if they’re a match. If they are, they’ll go on a “date”. Players post their date pictures on their Facebook wall.
That is, the game is free to play, but if you don’t mind shelling out a few extra dollars you can find out if you’re compatible with Knight, Jemmye and Sahar from “Real World: New Orleans,” for example. (These reality stars allegedly came up with the game answers themselves.)

The thing is, this is exactly the kind of game that’s giving social network games a bad reputation. There’s very little to it and there’s certainly nothing innovative. It spends a lot of time asking you to notify all of your friends about what you’re doing in the game and trys to convince you to spend real-world cash to “date” more-interesting-looking digital people (who aren’t actually any more interesting than the other uninteresting digital people).

Despite what some people think, not all Facebook games are as insipid and shallow as “I Woo You.” There’s a reason people keep coming back to “FarmVille” and “Mob Wars” for example.
