Perfect World International (PWI) is what players and industry people call a free to play (F2P) massively multiplayer online role playing game where casual and hardcore gamers can appear on the 3D virtual world in the form of characters or avatars to combat, communicate, quest, craft, and pass time.

The free to play MMO Perfect World International is obviously rooted in Chinese culture, yet the real gaming world is more fantasy-driven than history. Perfect world deserves its name thanks to its  impressive mounts, challenging quests and violent PvP duels to active community because it is still one of best free mmos at the moment, except for the classic MMO such as Lord of the Rings Online and Champions Online. But compared with Aeria Games’s MMOs such as Dynasty Warriors Online, PWI is still a notch above them in terms of registered users, frequent updates and better customer service.

As I just said, the ingame culture is not related to Chinese history, which does not really reflect what you understand the game. Before I decided to download and play a free mmo, I would check its screenshots first because that will help me understant if the game is worth playing.

The graphics I should say is not so great compared with Other Asian MMOs Aion, TERA Online, but I love Perfect World’s poster that looks pretty good and the artists have shown inspiration to create designs that are unlike any others. In these times, when inspiration is run out, most of developers would prefer to copy WoW’s graphics rather than being imaginative to come up with the ideas. So the first successful challenge – The graphics – has given us a refreshing feel.

To navigate the fantasy world, it is necessary for you to create a character you wish. Perfect World International offers a choice of 8 classes, which depend on which race is selected from the 4 races. Humans have a choice between Blademaster and Wizard, while the Elves can play as a Cleric or Archer. Untamed is tailored for classes Venomancer, and Barbarian, and Tideborn is for Assassin and Psychic.

After you choose your class, you need to customize the look of your avatar. This is where PWI reveals its strength, with a very complete editor for creating the hero of your dreams. The dizzying number of possibilities telll you this mmo could be a big one. What get a truly unique character! Only regret is the developer Perfect World entertainment did not offer a random generating character, a feature yet handy for the lazy guys. But that is not a problem yet.

For the PWI’s skills, each class could only have access to a single skill tree, but you will have more options to upgrade your skills and learn more advanced ability in order to win each battle in the later progression.

During 2011 to 2012, Perfect world will churn out more and more mmos such as Kung Fu-themed MMO Legend of Martial Arts, and Western fantasy MMORPG Forsaken World.

The first quest is let you get you familiar with game. So you will have to kill some little monsters and prove your ablitity to your target NPCs who always send the missions to you and reward you when you have them complted. At your early stage, you are able to pass through the missions without any obstacles,  but when you are seeking to level up to 30 or higher, you will have to work with your friends or you could join the guild to team up to fight. However, Asian MMOs are known for its grinding, so you may be bored in killing monsters.

For MMO Lovers, they are always enthusiastic about the multiplayer fighting and the PWI does possess a better mass PK System that a great number of players could join the ranks to fight.  There are several things to do. Those who join a guild may participate in such turf wars, which constitute the bulk PVP. This system allows guilds to take control of different regions of the world, which provides various bonuses including a significant amount of gold. Players who are not interested in PvP can always fall back on one of the related activities. It should be noted that PWI has a lot of things to do, including dungeons, handicrafts, housing, marriage … Not to mention the flying mounts. Ultimately, the title has a comprehensive content compared to many of its competitors.

However, this does not mean that free mmorpg Perfect World is perfect. In addition to the above mentioned features throughout the game, PWI suffers a myriad of small flaws, including unplasant animations, items limitations, lack of support for short keys, etc.. In contrast, PWI has still some handy features, such as the indicator of quests available and the automatic trip to an NPC, even if the pathfinding does not work smoothly.

In short, The biggest flaw, however, comes from its business model – free to play, or F2P- which has been considered a money grabbing model. For the developers, this business model has been keenly embraced even there are some classic MMOs going free to play. For example, Pirates of the Burning sea, Champions Online,Neverwinter, and Everquest (EQ2).

A shop to purchase items of comfort for real money cons: extra space in the inventory, special mount … Until then, nothing more normal in the area. But past a certain level, use the item shop is almost mandatory on pain of heavy imbalance between the players. It seems that the publisher did everything to push the players to go to the checkout. At the risk of some disgust, which is unfortunate because Perfect World also has the qualities to make.
